Access to Research for Development and Innovation (ARDI)
Access to Research for Development and Innovation (ARDI) is a program, coordinated by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in partnership with leading publishers, that grants free or low-cost access to scientific and technical journals, books, and reference works to academic, research, and patent institutions in developing and least-developed countries. Since its launch in 2009, ARDI has expanded significantly—from an initial vision of providing access to around 100 journals to now offering access to up to 8,000 journals and 33,000 books, reaching nearly 1,900 institutions across more than 100 countries by 2019. As part of the Research4Life consortium alongside HINARI, AGORA, OARE, and GOALI, ARDI plays a vital role in narrowing the global knowledge gap, empowering researchers in developing regions to participate fully in the global knowledge economy.
